Re: best wading shoes....not boots?

I wet wade now with boots only. You step into a hole or you scrape the side of your ankle against a rock and you are protected. I use neoprene socks or a pair of Simms cloth socks for flats (with...

Re: How many of you have broken rods while casting?

I guess there are fly fisherman out there that might do what Rip Tide is saying. I don't know any of them (that I know of) and I want to keep it that way. All the fly fishing folks I have ever met...

Re: Orvis Hydros Questions

I finally took the 8 wt tip flex Hydros for a short spin this weekend. It was matched with the Battenkill big water LA IV reel. The line I was using was not what I intended to use. I have a Rio bone...

Re: Orvis T3

I would say that rod sounds fine for what you are thinking of fishing- 8' or not, but I personally would go for 8.5' instead if possible. That brook rod is supposed to be very nice rod, but I am sure...

Re: Orvis Hydros Questions

I think there are shoot outs once in a blue, but they are rare. Yellow stone angler has done it in the past with an Orvis rod. I hope they do this again with newer models. I imagine well done...

Re: Cortland

Funny. I just sent out my old Cortland rod for repair/replacement with a note and my info. I hadn't heard anything from them, so I emailed them to inquire what was going on. I never heard from them...

Re: How do you deal with "Microtrash?"

RDRogers,

Great tip. I'm going to try that.

I don't place any of the trash in my vest, because it mixes in with stuff I need, and it's a pain to handle. I end up tucking it all in my shirt or...

Re: Anyone try a Gremlin?

Please post and let us know what you think after trying out the rod a few times. I'm curious about what you think of this rod.

Re: Wading Jackets

Thanks for the info on the sizing, Piscator.

One more question on this jacket- do the cuffs close up fairly well? I read one review where the guy spoke of water getting in up the sleeve.

As far...

Re: Magic Tool, standard

I was about to ask you for the specific store in NYC that you found the magic tool, but that seems rather insensitive right now after your wife's injury. How's she doing? How was the hook removed- do...

Re: Best trout rod under $150

I've been thinking of getting an echo for a long time. How would you compare it to the A-5 in terms of action and responsiveness?

Re: Wading Jackets

Hey Piscator.

I'm thinking of getting that jacket also. I'm 5'10'' at about 190- do you think the x- large might be too big. Folks on reviews say it runs a little large. I'm a true large normally,...

Re: 5 peice rods ?

I think that the new materials make a world of difference compared to older rods, and I think that the higher quality the rod, the less difference, even in budget rods. For example, with my Albright...

Re: Caddis pupa

Thanks Tob1,

First- You're the man! Thanks for going through the trouble of making a little video demo. That's really something. Second, after not letting it get hot enough the first time, I was...

Re: more knots

This is interesting data, Green. It seems to support the idea that a slow pull is better to tie a knot in general and that moisture will reduce heat build-up in case you're in too much of a hurry to...

Re: favorite dry fly for trout?

I agree with OldMan- it depends on the water.

I've thought about what makes a favorite fly a favorite fly for me, and it comes down to the materials. I tie a few variations of a brown deer hair...

Re: Caddis pupa

Thanks. I think you're right- I didn't let it take fire and tried to spread it while it was still too cool with a needle. I'll keep practicing. Thanks again for the tips.

Re: Caddis pupa

Hi Tob1- I finally tried out the meted glue technique on a basic pupa with an ice dubbed body, but my glue is not as translucent as the one above. Is there a secret to getting the melted glue clear...

Re: 2wt line on a 3wt reel

Er...Um..Oops! I just re-read the post and realized you were talking backing and are already planning to get a 2 wt. Sorry about that one.
