Got to be something in your technique, a furled leader is somethinng you control. You could always go back to a mono or fluoro leader.

Im going to say size 14 matched what they were accustomed to eating, plus I like Silvers line of thinking and is probably more technical than what the average fly guy thinks or carries in his fly box.

Never used it on flies, what I did use it on had a white tint to it after I sprayed it and it dried. It works but will wear off in time.

Some seem like not long at all. You could always inspect them and apply head cement, hard as nails, super glue or zap a gap to make them more durable.

I have that very rod and really like it. Agree with hairwing about the action. Good rod for the money except I got mine cheaper. I got 2 rods for the normal price of one.

I have one rite bobbin and 4 ceramic bobbins. I wont buy anymore rite bobbins, not that there's anything wrong with them other than they cost way more. Just keep practicing.

1.25 hrs to my closest trout fishing then 3.5 hrs. Oklahoma only has 2 year around tailwaters for trout and then its either Missouri or Arkansas.
