Re: Thee streamer rod

+1 to what horsehead said. Not an Epic 686, rather a Steffen 7/8 8'6 -- Mini D&D and fat brown. Line is Wulff Ambush triangle taper 7wt. Rio versi-leader and 15lb Maxima tippett....

Re: Fiberglass and Trout

+1 on what horsehead says about the 3wts. I have a friend who designed a prototype 8'2 3wt. but that was designed for small creeks in the driftless region of the upper NW. I don't think I'd use...

Re: Bennett Spring State Park, Missouri

The wild trout streams are in fine shape. Haven't fished Capps this year. Got a little low this summer as usual, but fall is looking good so far.

Re: Bennett Spring State Park, Missouri

Nice post Steve!

We are indeed blessed here in "The Show Me State" to have both wild trout streams as well as the State run trout parks. While I personally choose not to fish the parks...

Re: Spanish Mackerel

Spanish Mackerel also known as 'Sierra' (Spanish word for "saw" I believe) are a hoot on the fly. Try some bite tippet next time.

I'm sure they're great smoked, but if you like ceviche...

Re: New Product from Cutthroat Leaders

I'm excited about this new product. I really liked the thread leaders on my graphite rods, but not so much on my fiberglass rods as they prefer a stiffer leader. Any chance you will make...

Re: Streamer Line Type Selection - Rio Outbound Short

I can't comment on the particular water you fish, but have fished the Rio Outbound short and liked it as it over head casts very well and turns over big nasty articulated streamers with aplomb. This...

Re: Looking to get into some new glass

The Orvis 7'6 4wt. is indeed the sweetheart of their line up. Since you have a generous budget it is indeed well worth the $$ over the Butterstick, which again imo is not the best production...

Feed them meat...

Haven't posted a report in some time. I've been tying up big meaty streamers lately and seemingly been on an anti-nymphing kick. I took a skunking last week so I derived a plan to fish a stretch of...

Re: So evidiently I can tie game changers really well but can't fish them....

What kind of line did you have spooled up on both outfits? Big, water retaining streamers imo need a short heavy head to turn them over and get them into the target zone quickly.

On my 7/8wt. I...

Re: My streamers won't swim or orient the way I want them.

Like Rip said... use a non-slip loop knot. This should take care of the "sideways" problem. As far as your streamers swimming "wrong side down", without enough caffeine in me and without a picture...

Re: Streamer junkies!

Indeed is really good stuff. Roll casts better than anything else I have tried, including Rio Outbound short. I have been either using a 9' Rio "Bass" leader 10lb. or a Rio Versi-Tip sinking leader...
