Re: Tenkara rod grip length? and other questions.;

That's where I bought mine. I know absolutely nothing about Tenkara but I don't really want to either. So for $35 I figured it was a pretty sweet deal, and the hardware is a good deal too. I used up...

Re: Hatch Nippers

Greaaat.

What the hell is that thing that looks like a martial arts weapon? And please do not tell me it is an aircraft grade, fully machined bar stock aluminum dual beer bottle opener.

Re: Lead instead of bead?

Yes, you can do this! And yes, other people do it to. :) It's actually quite common practice. You get spools of lead wire, and non-lead, in multiple sizes to match with the size of hook you are...

Re: Tenkara rod grip length? and other questions.;

My first thought was that it could interfere with the sections sliding smoothly. I'm not doing it.

A big part of rod building is making them your own with color and design choices. And this is...

Re: Tenkara rod grip length? and other questions.;

Thanks. That's what I figured. I'm not worried about it, just curious if there were any advantages / disadvantages that I am unaware of.

Tell me though, how is a Tenkara rod "dressed?" You know...

Tenkara rod grip length? and other questions.;

I bought a Tenkara rod blank for my daughter's birthday. She's 7 and I want to see if she'll be interested in fishing with flies, figured this would be a good way find out.

I've built numerous fly...

Re: PSA: Yellowstone Park is not a petting zoo!!!

Marlin, are you two driving around the park in the nude? I'd think that might attract some crowds of "foreigners" from back East.

Re: Soft 6 Weight

Been waiting for a "CT guy" to chime in! :D

Do they make that rod in 6wt? For the limited amount of fishing that the OP is talking about, getting an inexpensive rod like this is a good idea.

Re: Like most, the Bitterroot is not doing well flow wise.

Fred, last Saturday I went to one of my favorite walk in spots on the mid-river and was able to wade across without getting my crotch wet! I've never even crossed the river at that spot before.

Re: Soft 6 Weight

Bingo! I wanted to read through all the advice before commenting that you should try a heavy 5 or just a 6wt line on your 5wt rod.

You have a nice 5wt rod that you like a lot, there is no reason...

re: The bottom line pretty much ?

To follow eastfly's thought;

I find it funny anytime there is a conversation about "top end" rods vs. any other rod people get defensive. Some get defensive about owning a high priced rod. Other...

These shows are fun to see the new stuff coming out and while I love looking at new rods, packs and boots mostly. I don't get too excited though, because I'm pretty stingy and don't buy a lot of new...

Re: It feels like September

Yeah, I'd take 3 months or so of this!

Isn't that what makes LA so attractive? The 74 degree daily high temp, no humidity. Too bad it's in LA though.

Re: Yellowstone Experience - Crowds an Anomaly for 2015?

Sweet relief. That brutal early heat wave broke July 10 and the last week has been amazingly comfortable. Highs in the upper 70s and low 80s with overnight lows back down in the low 50s along with...

Clearly YOUR fault because of the fishing report you posted on this forum regarding your trip the previous year!! Damn you! You ruined Bozeman!

You are blaming 19th Street's mile long strip of hotels, chain...
