Personally I prefer the Sage LL, but then again you would need to be talking 60 feet and under.

Re: Lamson Litespeed 2??

Another reel that should be thrown in with the names above are the Bauer reels, they have some of the smoothest drags I have used. Some don't like the star wheel adjustment being on same side as the...

Re: Yellowstone Angler 8-Weight Reel Shootout 2014

Yes, to many of the above. But it is a better testing, review, opinion, method than any others I have read. I don't care much for Trident's reviews, or others much a like.. Take it for what it is...

Re: Moderate Action 8wt Suggestions?

Good suggestions above, but if you want old school try to find a DS or DS2 Sage. The 8 weights pop up regularly on ebay in both 2 and 4 piece configuration, great rods to be had for 120ish usually. ...

Re: Yellowstone Angler - 2014 8 Weight Shootout

It would be interesting if all the blanks were painted black and without labeling or identification markers, a best attempt at a blind test, and then see the results. :frogdance

Re: Sage TCX 9 wt. - What reel?

You have a lot of choices out there and most are not bad :)

I mention a few I have used on my 9 weight XP, TCR, and RPLXi that would be a good fit for the TCX.

New or used.

Re: Rod advice.

Kinda reminds me of my sage 691 TCR. Stiffish but with right line....usually heavier such as a 7 weight it performs very well. I'm lucky to have several lines to test out...hard for the guy who...

Re: Best Low End 9'5wt

Two rods that were lower end in their time but can be had for 80.00-150.00 used pending on condition and models. The Sage DS or DS2 are very nice casting fish fighting rods. Come in 2 and 4 piece. ...

Re: Scott G 885/3 reel & line recs please......

Classic Peach was made for the G, Sage's LL and their DS series, Older Powells, Winston IM6's, and all well made slower action fly rods. WF or DT both are quality lines. Rio Gold is also a good...

Re: Sage method 9' 4 weight

Sounds like a z-axis, ZXL, Circa or TXL fit your bill more than the Method. TCR, TCX, Method are built for long distance line tossing, not for all-around fly fishing.

Re: Sage Method = Awesome

2017 or 2018 it should be. Sage seems to be turning their model lines every 4 to 5 years. Probably time for xi4 soon? :yikes:
