Re: Stream rules: rant content... beware.

Re: Your State Fly Pattern

As a New Jersian, I approve of the flies selected to represent our state, even if they were selected from out of staters . Fact of the matter is, you will see a lot more people using garden...

Re: How do you buy your deer hair?

Thank you ted4887. That was exactly the kind of info I was looking for when I first typed the question. I will be tying mostly smaller streamers (less than size 6) meant for trout and average sized...

Re: How do you buy your deer hair?

I hear ya but the season ended two months ago, so that won't happen until September. I didn't really start tying until after the season was over. I'm just looking for something to get started with...

Re: How do you buy your deer hair?

Can you spin with bucktail? I wouldn't mind getting some bucktails for clousers and stuff though

How do you buy your deer hair?

Hey everyone,

I'm really starting to get into tying and have taken some interest in tying with deer hair lately, mostly looking into trying out some spinning on patterns like muddlers and what...

Re: Fishing chicks?

And a Visla?! Lucky man indeed! I wish my girlfriend was more into it. I can get her out with spinning gear, but fly fishing is a stretch.

Re: Macro cameras

That made me LOL. Thanks, Ard. I just use my camera phone on a tripod. I think the hard part about macro shots is getting the proper lighting. It doesn't take the best shots out there obviously, but...

Re: Down to 3.

Being a New Jersey fisherman myself, I highly suggest a shorter rod. That is unless you already have one in the arsenal. I don't have any info to offer on those rods, but thought I would throw that...

Re: Small stream Stories and Pictures;

Well after not being able to fish for a couple weeks, I had to get out before this snow storm hits us here in New Jersey. Drove all over trying to find a place to fish that wasn't frozen all the way...

Re: Ya'll might ban me for this

YE SHALL BE EXILED! But honestly, don't be ashamed. I know it is a fly fishing forum, but the thing that is shared no matter what is the joy of a tight line. No shame in using a spinning rod. If I...

Re: Fly Floatants for Noobies or What Floats Your Fly

Great read with one thing I wanted to mention. Water doesn't suffer manic depressive bouts. What I think you might mean is that water is a POLAR molecule, meaning that it has a positive end and a...

Re: Resume for a Fly Shop questions??

Proving yourself as a people person would be paramount in my opinion. You definitely have to know your gear and know how to use it. I would add things in your resume like TU membership, if you're a...

Re: Homemade Zonker strips?

Awesome guys, thanks! I wouldn't be tanning the hides myself but probably buying them from the fur traders around here. I wonder if the big auction site has acceptable hides I could try it out on. My...

Nasty enough for them to cancel my Meteorology afternoon class!!! Too bad she gave us online homework on "heat islands". The irony hurts.

Re: New Zealand Strike Indicator

I consider free cheap :punk::punk: Already figured out a satisfactory replacement I believe. Some poly yarn, a coffee stirrer, and stripped 12 gauge wire sheathing.

Homemade Zonker strips?

Has anyone done it? And if so, was it worth the hassle? Squirrel and rabbit hides are quite plentiful, just wondering if it is doable or if you are better off paying a few bucks for the pre cut ones....

Re: New Zealand Strike Indicator

I really like the looks of there. Not to jack the thread, but is there a way to do it on the cheap? Could I get away with something other than wool?

Re: Grandaddy Longlegs

One of the highest forms of comic relief is finding a daddy longleg and throwing him out in the water. They kinda float around and hop up and down like doing a little jig. It's even better when a...
