Advice for pricing - 9'6" 8wt Sage Graphite III

So I know this is an older rod (obviously). It has been sitting in my uncles garage for years - Brand new, never been used. Ever.

He gave it to me to trade or sell so that I could buy a new rod...

Re: Hot days and low water, give the fish a break

Or do what some reallllly experienced older timers do (at least two I know of), dont use a hook. They feel so bad after possibly harming so many fish, and bring so many in, they just have the fly...

Re: Night fishing question

I know some people who really like night fishing but it creeps me out. It is harder for me to focus on fishing when I feel I should be paying closer attention to my surroundings than I do during the...

Re: My rod tried to use ME as the bate!!

First off, you are very lucky! I am in school / engaged / getting ready to move so my life is a mess right now! I am lucky to go once every two months. I guess that is my only point.

Re: New caster problems

Definitely get to water. Even if there are no fish. The tension of the water on the line changes the resistance experienced by the rod.

Re: Walk/wade fishing with 2 rods

I take a backpack and bring my second rod I think would make a nice addition. If you need it, break it out. If not, its just in your back pack.

Re: If fly-fishing was the sole factor in determining where to live . . .

I dont even want to chose it will just make me sad. The closest decent stream to fly fish is about 40 minutes away and nothing is over 8".

Re: BVK 6wt question

I would go for the rod without it. I hate the end that sticks on one of my 8wt's. TFO does have another with a sponge material on the bottom which is nice.

Re: Quick opinion - BVK or Sage Xi2

I love TFO for pretty much everything. But I dont have a lot of $ and that factors into it. I do know the BVK is amazing for pretty much every use.

Re: Small Trout Religion?

I guess it depends, I dont think a fish is really small unless it cant put up a fight. Some of the "smallest" fish I have caught were over 18" (Rocky ford creek in WA). They are super docile and used...

I might have to take a run at carp now, there are a few places by where I live but I never thought about using a fly.

Re: Side-arm cast woes -- need advice

It is a learning process that will go on for a while. I have only been fly fishing for a few years but I have taken a few classes and I notice changes in how I cast from month to month.
