Re: So what are your 'Password(s)?'

Re: Marco Island help needed

Yes, "Mangrove Snapper", also known as Gray Snapper (Lutjanus griseus); locally called 'black snapper' and 'mango'.

Folks argue that Mangrove and Gray Snapper are different, but DNA doesn't lie!

Re: Fishing in Belize for a student

You must be planning to study at the Belmopan campus. Here's what I know:

1. Freshwater flyfishing is difficult for anything except Tilapia (introduced and dominant in most fw streams and rivers...

Re: 'cuda and bonnetheads

I was talking about large barracuda exhausted from fighting a hookup, not barracuda stuck with a spear.

I agree that pliers must work easily, opening quickly with one hand.

Have fun, be...

Re: 'cuda and bonnetheads

The big barracuda (~20 lbs or bigger) practically die in the fight. Often they are slugs once they finish their runs. They can be handled like many other fish. The smaller barracudas are more...

I lost a boat in Belize once. A friend and I were SCUBA diving in a sinkhole with caves off one end. There were often sharks and grouper in the caves, so...

Re: Caye Caulker Belize??

Sure thing.
Blue Marlin Lodge on South Water Caye is best. I'll be there in May, and can't wait! I've made a couple of dozen trips to that area. If it were just you I'd suggest some smaller...

Re: Have you taken a swim for a fish?

I did a swim similar to Dave's. Was fishing from a boat in Belize when I hooked up with a nice Grouper. It took me into the coral, as they often do. I tried all of the usual techniques, but...

Re: Caye Caulker Belize??

Caulker is better than Ambergris, but only barely (for fishing). I like the atmosphere better at Caulker, and there are fewer tourists. Ambergris has become crowded in recent years by the cruise...

Re: What happens to the fish after a storm?

One general pattern not mentioned above is a broad-scale pattern. Many fish species, trout included, move upstream during high water. It was a pattern first discovered by fisheries folks...
