Re: Autumn and Atlantics

Well, it is a rod loft, but only the rod holder thingies that I got from Cabelas, without the hanger thingies. I used cargo bars that I already had for my F-150 as the supports. Way cheaper, and I...

Yikes! I was extremely happy with my Nikon AW 110 (takes great video) until I saw rapman's pics! Nice.

Re: The mighty atlantic

Haven't seen this thread before. I have a batch of friends that are professional guides (Guide 1 classification) on the Miramichi where I assume the OP's friend was fishing. I don't imagine any of...

Re: Deer hair

If by shrimp patterns, you mean like those used for atlantic salmon flies, don't use the big, huge "northern" bucktail; it's often fairly hollow and will splay all over the place on you. Go for the...

Tanner's LBT

I developed this fly for a gentleman from Michigan that is targeting big brown trout. Finally put my name to a fly. Oh, and it hooked a trout on its very first cast into a river.

Re: Trip To Canada

I just got back from 2 weeks in New Brunswick, more cabin remodeling than fishing, but that's ok.

Re: Dyna-King Ultimate Indexer as a first Vise?

I think you're going to love that vise. I have the D-K Barracuda, and wouldn't part with it. Smallest I've gone with it is size 17; didn't need the midge jaws even for that.

Re: Wanted: Red (English) Grouse Skin

Ya, I believe his name is Steve at Cookshill. If everyone did business like he does, the world of fly fishing would be a better place.

Re: Question about swinging streamers?

Short answer from me is that I typically throw a quartering downstream cast, and let the fly swing across the current and through a place I'm targeting. In slow water, I will often strip in short...

Re: FS: Echo Solo 12'6 6wt spey rod with scandi head and running line!

It's great rod for large trout, landlocked salmon, or definitely bass in rivers. The scandi head I included is perfect for the rod...needs next to no backcast room. You can really cover the water...
