Re: Downsizing the Herd

Thanks Cab,

I suspect most people who post to this Forum were Scouts.

I figure if a child is in the Scouts, he/she is doing pretty well.

I am looking for kids who don't get that level of...

Downsizing the Herd

Fellow Anglers,

I am downsizing my "herd" of fly rods. Rather than sell them on eBay, I would like to get them in the hands of kids who would not otherwise have access to the sport. I can set...

Fellow Anglers,

I would appreciate your help designing a simple tying desk.

A friend has offered to build us one as a housewarming gift.

Re: Best all-around flats fishing line?

Try the Rio "Bonefishing" specialty line. Easy casting and gets your fly down where it belongs.

(try a tan Gotcha with rubber legs)

Best regards

Re: Does everybody have that "one" fly that never seems to let you down?

My "go-to pattern" is a black Wooley Bugger. I drift it through riffles and pools, then strip it back across the current. Size 8 or 10

Most of my hits come when I am stripping it back in.

Re: Great day on the water playing Hookie from work

Nothing beats a day on the water! Interesting connection between skipping out on work and fishing. Is that where the term "playing hookie" comes from?

Be careful, your boss may be a member of...

Re: Northern Vermont

Good Morning Stan,

I lived in Vermont for 15 years. Are you looking to do stream, river or lake fishing?

Lots of options up that way.

Re: Early Season - Central Vermont

I agree. The area behind the Dog Team Tavern holds lots of stockies this time of year. The junction of the New Haven with Otter Creek is also a hot spot.

You can't go wrong fishing your way...

Re: Fly fishing for school credit?

I ran a "virtual fly shop" called Vermont Streams on line from 1999-2003. In those early days I had to pay someone to customize a shopping cart system for me. I made a few dollars, met some great...
