I'd email Hardy with the same...

S&S,

I've still got my Scott STS 906-4 and use it as my heavy nymph/streamer trout rod. I also still have a San Fran Scott G 904-2. Very different rods but there is just something about Scott...

Re: 2015 Yellowstone Angler 5-Weight Shoot-Out

My favorite 5wt for my local tailwaters is a Sage SLT 590-4 with a smooth medium fast action. It has been out of production for a number of years. I also have a Scott s4 905-4 I take when I travel...

Re: Are you a Maximizer or a Satisficer?

Thought provoking thread Silver. I would have to say throughout school and then my business career and personal life I have always been somewhere in the middle. When I had my business, I always...

Re: What further advances in rod design are possible?

I don't think anyone could disagree that the casting skills of the large majority of fly fishers falls well short of the level necessary to take full advantage of their equipment. That was the...

Re: What further advances in rod design are possible?

I hope no one that has read what I posted in this thread thinks I feel innovation in new rod development shouldn't continue. Without it the rod companies might as well close up shop. My point was...

Re: What further advances in rod design are possible?

SnS, it seems from your posts that you are in that small minority of fly fishermen skilled and technical enough to not only benefit from most of the advances but also enable you to enjoy the...

Re: What further advances in rod design are possible?

Almost an infinite number of advances are possible I guess. Needed?.... Not in my opinion but then I'm an old guy that is reducing my accumulation of fly rods and reels as I already have too many to...

Re: Best Low Cost Reel Options???

Just my $.02 but by patiently watching Ebay and various forum classifieds one can get far greater value buying lightly used reels in the $100-$200 range than any NIB reel from a retailer. I've seen...

Re: FS - Phillipson D80DFS 8' 5wt Glass Rod

Thanks for the review Ard! It really is a high quality vintage glass rod. The only reason I'm selling it is I'm trying to reduce my # of fly rods and reels now that I'm in my mid 60's and I have a...

Re: FS - Abel Big Game 0 Reel

Thanks guys. They don't make these anymore and you won't find one nicer. Perfect for that special 3wt or 4wt rod. I think you'll love the reel.
