For years I fished with my Great Uncle's hand-me-down, torn up, dirty, fishing vest, a cheap pair of leaky waders, tennis shoes, a $50 reel, and a $70 rod. I caught plenty of fish and honed my skills...

Thanks! Yeah it was a lot of work. I probably won't fish too many of these. I mostly tied it to see if I could.

The wing material is Spirit River "Mayfly Wings Med. Grey SZ 16/18." The back says...

I saw a fly like this at the shop and I cannot for the life of me remember what it was called. But here's my version of it. This was my first attempt using those wings....

I have my go-to flies like Adams, midges, hare's ears, and elk hair caddis, but I also have 3 boxes of assorted flies that I keep if a specific hatch is out.

Easy fix. Install an ad blocker plugin to your web browser. I use Chrome as my browser and installed ABP and now there are no ads on any website I go to.

For what it's worth, I use a Peak rotary vise and love it. I use the rotary option all the time. Mostly just to check all sides of the fly to make sure I'm tying things in correctly.

I've been tying a lot of Guide's Choice Hare's Ear nymphs with a gold rib for a buddy that swears they're the best fly ever (I've yet to catch a fish on one) and he says they don't hold up well. Says...

I wondered about those soles... they didn't seem solid to me. I use the studded rubber soles on my Korkers and they've lasted just fine for a few years now.
