Snapping 140 Denier means you're definitely using too much pressure.

If you're tying on smaller hooks too, then that thread is much to thick.

Try to use Danville fly master 6/0 (stretchy) and...

I dont know if you can hunt Canada goose, if you can hunt them, then they're legal. If hunting them is prohibited, then owning or using the feathers is illegal.

I'm not a hunter, so cant really...

Heron is definitely illegal in USA, Canadian goose might also be protected by migratory birds act.

Looks for feathers that are broken or incomplete. Most dubbings i buy are from Hareline, they're generally always good quality.
Twisted feathers are not bad, they can be repaired with steam, broken...

Not really been tying a whole pile of flies lately, due to various circumstances, but I did manage to get a couple out of the vise.

I never tie one start to finish in one sitting, so its kinda hard to tell. Rough estimate, if all goes to plan and i dont redo any parts, 3-4 hours per fly, regardless whether its in the vise or in...

cant offer much about H&H, but Collins hackle is certainly worth a look too if you want to go off the beaten track (Not big name whiting or Metz)

i think you'll be hard pushed to find a 6' 3wt, unless its higher end (i dont know if butterstick is available in that size). generally for a 3wt i'd go 7' or 7''6
