Re: Roto Molded Cooler Review

What raft and frame do you have? I have an Aire Super Puma with NRS frame coming and it seemed like the Pro Blue 80 would be a perfect fit for extended trips.

Re: Roto Molded Cooler Review

That is exactly it, they are great at marketing. Engel created the rotomolded cooler, Yeti just marketed it to a much wider audience and that is why everyone knows the name Yeti.

Re: Women's Fly Fishing Gear

Spoke with Jackie and Christine at Orvis who happen to be the associate art director and women's digital merchant/analys and they completely agree. It is something they have been trying to get for a...

Re: How Did You Get Your Wife Into Fly Fishing?

Not only does mine fish, she will out fish most of us! The most difficult thing was after she had been fly fishing for trout for a while, teaching her out to cast for saltwater. They get frustrated...

Re: Roto Molded Cooler Review

I love my Engel coolers and tumblers.

I used to use a Yeti Tundra 45 and wasn't happy with it. It could have just been a fluke issue but with the money I spent I decided to try something else. ...

Re: Storing the Fly Rod and Line

Cutting off your fly is just the nature of the beast when you break the rod down. I don't tie my leader/tippet off to anything but I leave about a foot of it out of the reel to ensure it doesn't end...

Re: What Did You Buy Today?

Went to the Somerset show and only left with a couple hats and a pair of pants. I somehow walked away from rod vaults for $295...

Re: Rod Carriers

That is a cool idea, I just don't like the idea of the rod rubbing on the side of the car.

Re: Rod Carriers

Where have you seen a lot of refurbs? I haven't come across any and they don't have any available on their site. It is a pretty straight forward design so I am not sure what could fail on them to...

Re: Rod Carriers

Haha, that is took cool. They fit in the car with the back seat down so we just throw them in there. We have a Sumo rack for spot hopping and I plan on a Titan Rod Vault in the near future.

Re: FS: GLoomis 8/9wt Shortstix

$425 for entire set up with your choice of Airflo 40+ sniper intermediate 9wt or a Wulff Triangle Taper fast sink 9wt. Wulff is brand new but on the reel, the Airflo has seen minimal use.

You are...

Re: Who's going to Marlboro?

I will still be there 8-) If not Saturday, definitely Sunday as the weather looks a little more mild.

Re: FS: GLoomis 8/9wt Shortstix

It's a great rod, I just have a lot of 8 and 9wts and usually grab my Helios 2.

Re: Echo 3 or Orvis?

Check out the Orvis Recon, we have a handful of them and love them. Just slightly over the price of the Echo 3, but a WAY better rod. I have 6 or 8 Echo rods as well including the 2 and 3.

Re: Taught or self taught?

I selected 100% self taught, which isn't entirely true. I have never had an instructor, or anyone teach me one on one however, I do watch and listen and have learned from doing so.

Paying for a...

Re: State of the art Orvis?

I have multiple NRX and Helios 2 in the same weights. I prefer the Helios 2. Don't get me wrong, they are both great, the H2 just feels much smoother to me.

Re: What Did You Buy Today?

Got a 7wt Helios 2 switch rod a few weeks ago and liked it so much, I just got the 5wt. These are my first switch rods and I LOVE 2 hand casting! Also got a bunch of smaller things like tying...

I do too! I make it a point to show them how fast I can drain the main vain and be back in the water every time I have to! LOL

I especially love it when it is raining, couple zips and I am good...

Re: Zipper Waders Anyone?

I wear the Orvis Silversonic Zips and LOVE them. The zip is long enough on mine that I just need to lightly pull down on the waders while I hold my pants down. No problems for me.

Re: The Photography Chat Thread;

Another option is extension tubes. Basically they mount to your current camera and lens and what they do is reduce the distance you need to be to focus.

Re: Trout /steelhead spey/switch rod

I am new to 2h hand rods but I bought a 7wt Helios 2 and RIO Chucker line for steelhead. I love it, but I am going to pick up the same setup in 5wt right now to use for trout.

If you are going to...
