Re: New Waders

Good advice, sort of. The agitators in top loading machines can damage the taped seams in waders (especially in the neoprene booties). If you have a front loading washing machine, you should not...

Re: Looking for a spare spool for a Cortland LTD 60 graphite fly reel

The spools pop up on eBay from time to time. If you can't find one, you can find Cortland Crown II and Pflueger Medalist reels at relatively low prices.

Re: Need some help with hooks.

34007 has a 1x long shank at the longest. The O'Shaughnessy bend makes it look longer.

Try an Umpqua U502 (https://umpqua.com/products/hooks/special/u-series-502).

Re: So close, last question

It's all about payload management. If you plan on throwing mouse patterns, the 6 weight will be the better stick.

Re: Rod/Reel Setup Help

I think that a seven weight might be a bit much. The heaviest line weight category that you could use for that fly size range would be a six weight. If you are confident in your fish fighting...

Re: Time to get my own

I'm with Larry on this. Just be upfront with the salesguy on what you want and what your budget is. If he is doing his job, he will limit you to just a few rods to try.

When it comes to budget,...

Re: WF line for Scott G904 fly rod?

Re: Planted Fish... Really!

Tom,

I just looked at your club's outing schedule. I can see why you aren't keen on it.

Here is a simple solution - be a leader than a follower. Lead a club outing, go solo, or take a few of...

If you want one rod to fish the American River for steelhead, salmon, and stripers (hint, hint), get an eight weight. I won't give you specifics on rod recommendations since there are three fly...

Re: Planted Fish... Really!

I had a long response, but I deleted it.

Here is my simple answer to why someone would fish for stocked fish.

At least in my case, it's to get a quick fly fishing fix.

You kinda sorta answered yourself there. Basically spare spools are an economical way for you to have more line options without having to get extra reels.
