Re: Feathers vs Soft Plastic

I am still getting my Bassmaster subscription monthly and over the years the plastic and balsa cranking lure and soft plastics baits have gone from the fish look alike shapes to mutant who knows what...

Re: Feathers vs Soft Plastic

1980 81 and you were already an accomplished fly fisherman, while there I was being told that fish come from the sea.

Re: Hang marker

That's a grand idea, I'll see if I can use some sewing materials and nail knots to make my own "hang marker".
I won't use shrink tube since I am technically incline and it might ruin the whole line.

Re: Hang marker

Sorry for not being clear. I borrowed the Hang Marker term from Rio Intouch line, I thought it was a standard term. The "hang marker" is like an indicator on your line so you know when you should...

Re: I'm so tired of getting ripped off!

Increasing the import tariffs will make the Walmartians out of beer and undies. You don't want that to happen.

Hang marker

What would be the right way and the right material to make my own hang marker for my intermediate line. You see, I have been using the clear tip intermediate line with clear blue head and running...

Re: Tips for traveling with fly fishing gear

The last time I had my rod with me was in an international flight to Bali, I had my 2 piece spinning 7FT and baitcasting rod 7FT in a rod holder with me all the time.

This next trip I already...

Re: Going back to the Old, new-Fashioned Vest

I was surprised he didn't pull his side gun and some clips from it.

Re: Casting into the wind

I live in a windy area and fish windy mountain lakes. After a streamer kissed my left cheek incident; I am now spending my practice time on quick shooting the line with a single haul, side arm cast,...

Re: 2013 5-Weight Shootout

I wonder what they will say about Allen rods, if they were in it. I am glad Allen was not in it. Customers' reviews and listening to them are the right way to develop your products more.

Re: Sink Tip? 15'? 24'? Sink Line?

I had the same questions as I fish from a rental Jon boat and from a kayak in deep stillwater lakes.

I read, and asked questions and decided to buy the Rio Intouch Deep 5 to go along with my Rio...

Re: Economical Premium Reel Advice

I had the clearwater II then swapped it with the Access IV. Nothing wrong with that reel, but the drag isnt fully sealed. I am the kind of person who wants versatility in my gears. So in this case i...

Re: Economical Premium Reel Advice

If I were you, I will get the 6wt. All my reels are over sized for the reason that I can always spool them with heavier lines for future use.
For under $200 it is very hard to beat the US made Guru.

Re: 2013 5-Weight Shootout

I agree with Monseur on his opinion about the Helios and Zenith. Prior to purchasing my Zeniths, I tested the Helios as well and shorter distance the Helios have more control. But I choose Zenith...

Re: 2013 5-Weight Shootout

If my Zenith and Helios aren't winning it, then I won't read it!

I knew about the Anderson's shootouts but didn't really care much about it when I was buying my rods. What I have is the best for...

Re: Orvis Clearwater?

Great choice. but I suggest you to buy the III.

I bought the Access IV (7-9wt) for my 5wt so I can also use the reel for my 7 and 8 wt and probably for my future 9wt. just my 2 cents.

Re: Orvis Clearwater?

The Clearwater is a nice rod, I would take the discounted outfit that Orvis is currently offering. I think the 4wt Clearwater combo will have the Clearwater Large Arbor II reel. I had that reel...

Re: Bless me Father, for I have sinned

You are forgiven since I did the same thing just 2 weeks ago from a boat.
After 2 hours of no bass on the fly rod. I pulled out my drop shot rod and 3 LM in a row. Put down the spinning rod down...
