Re: Vermont in winter

Although I also have 4/11 circled on the calendar, I'm not yet cancelling any other important appointments for that weekend. We often get one last blast of a storm sometime in April. My wife bought...

Re: TFO LK Professional II Series

I own a 10' 7 wt Pro II and like it & I'm fairly new at this game. (I already had an Orvis 5wt.) I considered a BVK 7wt, but the Pro II has more backbone -- for steelhead.

On my first outing, 2...

Re: "The Miracle 100+"

Jerry:
Apparently you are still hitting it out of the park!
The flies arrived yesterday in good shape - and they are beautiful!

I guessed the Miracle 100+ might have a few extra flies,...

Re: Cushy Scenic Float Trip Wanted

Other thoughts...
Yeah - definitely. Google "WoodBoatTours" for a float on the Snake out of Jackson, WY. Talk with AJ & he can tailor a trip to inspire. He happens to have worked as a first-class...

Re: Moving North

Rob:
Welcome to the "802" [as the kids say.] Rochester is a great area; good choice. Nice community vibe there.

Moved here in 72 from Michigan and never looked back - though I do like the MI...

Larry, Ard & all:
Sorry for the link posting & thanks for the heads up.
I'll see about another way to post, but there are LOTS of pics & movies.

Perhaps more later.

Yellowstone Sept 2014 [photo heavy]

[This thread updated 12/30/14.]

**I'm re-posting this thread with proper attachment of photos. I haven't included movie clips - for simplicity.**

I've been lurking on the forum for a while...

Re: stuck ferrule

Had the same problem with a TFO Pro II 7 wt. Tried many of the methods listed - no luck. Sent it back to TFO. They couldn't separate the sections either (!) so they sent a new rod - no charge.

Re: Fly Fishing Duffel Bag

I'll add my $.02 to all the other options.

Coming from a musician's perspective...
Here's a 14" x 36" bag - very rugged! - designed to carry drum hardware [metal stands, etc.] that I've also used...

Re: February Raffle from Life On The Line Fly Fishing;

I'm considering entering the wide (expensive?) world of tying.
So I guess it's the Orvis book.
Thx.

Re: New to Vermont

Welcome, Joe.
Vermont is a very cool place. Especially this winter!

I'm also a newbie on this forum - and more importantly, still new to fly fishing, but this crew is generous with advice. ...

Cool. Count me in. Since I've never tied a fly, The Intro to Fly Tying would be my choice.

Thanx.

Re: on the market for a new 7 wt rod

FWIW....
I had a similar question last summer. Decided on 10' 7wt. A friend bought the St. Croix and likes it. I looked at TFO but couldn't decide between BVK & Prof II.
I called TFO & the guy...

Re: Need a Good Salmon River Guide

You might want to consider Bob Shannon. He owns The Fly Rod Shop in Stowe, VT - and apparently grew up on the Salmon & guides there each fall. I know of a couple of people who were thrilled with...

Heading out soon for a week of late July fishing (tough.)
Any recent reports or experiences with the Magalloway [ME] below the dam - or anywhere in the Rangeley region, for that matter?

Also,...

Re: April caption competition sponsored by Allen FlyFishing

Re: Vermont Newbie

-- and I forgot to mention -- my father-in-law owns a place on the Pere Marquette in Michigan. I guess I have few excuses NOT to catch trout.
