Re: 10' Orvis Clearwater Rods

Does Greys still make the streamflex or whatever it was called. I know it had a big following of nymphers. I believe they made it in 10' in 3 and 4 wt as well.

Being i live about a half hour away i need to make the trip. I have not been to the show in 10 years since my dad left the state. I would love to see all the rod makers now that is of interest.

Re: Local Dealer vs online question

This I agree with, i have no problem dropping 50 bucks in a destination shop if their is some info to be had. Actually i would never not drop the cash and expect them to tell me anything.

Re: New Jersey 2015 Trout Season

Isn't the pequest hatchery the only that raises trout stocked in NJ every year? The Musky hatchery only raises fish for private waters i thought.

Re: Chinese Ebay CNC reels

They are probably fine for 90% of trout fishing. You would might have to do a little trial and error to find one with a work horse drag. Or maybe you wouldn't, i personally don't know anyone that...

Re: Local Dealer vs online question

Between tax and free line and backing you are talking about a hundred bucks or more sometimes. I am not loyal, nor do i go in any of them on regular basis so i would go with the online guy every...

Re: Bass on a 5wt

I caught one of my biggest bass on a 5wt screwing around with a little popper. I was preying the whole time he was not going to take me into the lilly pads as that would be where the disadvantage...

Re: 4 weight 8' 6" -- Winston GVX or other?

The later IM6's are also rolled on Winston Blanks. The change in did not constitute a change in blank, that was already done.

Re: DT or WF for my 2wt

I have heard many people over the years recommend double taper lines cut in half for tiny brook fishing. I would absolutely do that.

Re: Best Bang for the Buck

If you are looking for the best bang for your buck, always look at MRFC for closeouts. Same with Sierratradingpost, especially if you get the coupons.

Re: Rods You Just Can't Part With

My IM6 Winston 8.5 3wt is not made anymore and very highly thought of.

My 8'10 Winston TU Rod is nice since it was never production.

I would probably never sell my two sage LL's as well. ...

Re: 4 weight 8' 6" -- Winston GVX or other?

GVX is more of a replacement to the WT than the BIIX was. I have the 9' 4 and it is my favorite graphite rod. Right up there with my 8.5 3wt IM6.

Re: Abel's forthcoming Sealed Drag Reel

They will end up being nice reals for Great Lakes steelhead guys who want a sealed drag. As far as trout go, i would spend the money on a Hardy.

Re: 9' 4wt suggestions?

Look for Winston GVX's new on ebay discontinued. Get a 7.5 3wt and 8.5 wt. Should cost you 6-7 hundred. Get a spool for your 5wt reel and put a wt line on it. Look for a light reel on ebay for...

Re: Scott vs. Winston

I honestly did not read this whole section but when it comes to Graphite rods i would probably never buy anything but a Winston. The IM6/WT's being my favorite and the rods i will never get rid off....
