That's a really good thing to note. I have wire tippet for big pike, but haven't had the chance to use it yet. I'll keep that in mind if they don't go for it.

You know, talking about old fly lines has me thinking. Is there any good fly patterns out there (other than a dragon fly) that uses an old fly line? That would be one good way to use worn out fly...

I have a fly line that I use that is 20 years old and cracked in multiple places around the leading edge. It was a floating line, but has become a slow sinking line. :D LOL

Welcome to the forum! There are more people with better knowledge than me, but I would pair up rod and reel with like weights until you get a real feel for the subtle differences, then start dialing...

I don't have a kayak, but Ive been thinking about a similar type of thing for my v bottom boat. Its small enough that you don't want a deck, but big enough to maybe get away with something like that....
