Re: Epoxy/nail polish scent

If it were true trout are put off taking a fly because of the dot of cement or epoxy on it, hardware fishermen would never catch one.

Re: TFO BVK 6wt fly line suggestions

If you can still find an SA Headstart, snap it up. It's half-weight heavy and has a short front taper, almost identical to SA's Bass taper. The BVK should work well with that.

Re: TFO BVK 6wt fly line suggestions

I've got BVKs in 7 and 8 wt and use RIO Outbound on both. That combo works well for me for throwing the heavy stuff or punching into a wind.

Re: Pike and Muskie line questions

I live over the border from Minnesota and have done some pike fishing. I'm a big fan of the Outbound Short lines. It's a great line for throwing the big flies and punching into the wind. One false...

Re: Sling Pack Recommendations

I don't understand why the majority of slings are designed to go over the right shoulder. As a right-handed caster - as most fly anglers are - I really don't want the added weight or bulk to...

Re: The Fly Fishing Lanyard - Pros/Cons

I'm a big fan of lanyards as well. I strolled the aisles of the local craft store and bought wood beads and a length of leather 'rope' (approx shoelace width), added some snap swivels and had a...

Smartphone apps

Curious what fly fishing apps folks have on their phones. I've got tapatalk for the forum and a couple knot apps, but that's about it. Anybody have any recommendations?

Re: Fenwick Aetos - has anyone seen it yet?

A quick look at Sage's dealer network shows they have, by very rough count, about 1,000 dealers worldwide. I think the notion of a few craftspeople lovingly spinning enough Ones or Circas (along with...

Re: Popular flies you don't like?

I always have a few in the box, occasionally tie it on, but the Royal Coachman just doesn't do it for me.

Re: Tips for giudes... Please read

I assume some guides are independent contractors who get booked through a shop. I'm curious what the shop's cut is for these arrangements.

Re: Lessons Learned- Here, There & Everywhere...

It's acts like this that make me proud to be part of this community.

And even though they weren't fishing for new customers, Orvis just caught one.

Re: How Are You Combating Cabin Fever??

I'm going to fill my bathtub and check my new-to-me waders for leaks. That's the closest to fishing I'll be doing for awhile around here. We're still measuring our ice cover in feet.
