I prefer to fish alone, I use to hike into the Chatooga backcountry for week long streches, never saw a soul all week, that was before the Delayed Harvest section ruined the river from popularity

It depends at what water level you are fishing, low water its a midge river with small tippets and small flys #18 thru #24. During higher water its a streamer river so pick your rod accordingly

The rods are different actions, the Approach is a medium fast the Response is a fast action. The feel of these rods will be very different, this can get very involved as to which action is preferred...

The Superfine Carbon is a medium action rod by design, underlining it would create a medium fast to fast action rod. I think you would lose what that rod was designed for which is soft presentations...

Okuma reels are head and shoulders the best reel for a low price and are very functional for small and medium fish, they just don't carry much weight when fishermen start brand name dropping about...

This is bad advice, you never know when a big boy is going to strike, it doesnt take but a second or two to get the line on the reel so when the big boy is on it will be natural and without thought....
