Re: For bass?? Lefty Kreh TiCr X Series

I think once you find the right line and leader set up for your casting style and the fly's you wish to cast, most rods will come to life.

Good luck with it.

Re: 10wt for bass fishing?

I think the place you fish and the distance you need to cast these bulky fly's will dictate the rod weight for you.

If you are casting reasonable close a smaller weight rod with the right line...

Re: Favorite 8 weight bass flies

I agree, gurglers are great fish catchers and very easy to cast.
I don't mind these slider style bass flys either.

Re: New 8weight bass/pike line

OBS lines are great for short casts with big fly's and also great for long casts with smaller fly's.
The only issue I have is matching it to a certain rod.
Not all 8wt rods will feel comfortable...

Re: Redington Vapen or Redington predator?

Not cast the vapen, but I absolutely love my 8wt short predator.
If fishing to shoreline snags in close the 8wt rio outbound short is an awesome match for great accuracy with larger wind resistant...

Re: Triangle Taper....Jack of all Trades...Master of None???

I enjoy the TT lost tip in an 8wt for saltwater fishing. Nice line, needs a good stretch staight from the box. Slightly heavier than that stated IMO.
Casts very well.
Not good for short casts,...

Re: Line for #6 Ross Flystik.

I've been playing with lines on this rod and found that a #6 trout line with the level tip cut performs beautifully with bass fly's.

Some say this rod likes over lining, not me.
Everyone has...

Line for #6 Ross Flystik.

Hi all,

I seem to be having issues casting this rod with a #6 Rio smallmouth bass line.
It feels very guttles at any distance casting deerhair bugs.
Is this line too heavy for this rod?

Any...

Re: Australian Salmon

They are regarded as a pest of a saltwater fish, but great fun on the fly.

The fly they seem to like is just some white bucktail and a few strands of flash.

Hi all,

I don't have the required posts to put this up in the classifieds.

Sink Tip Line for TFO BVK #8

I'm after some advice for a sink tip line to suit my TFO BVK 9' #8 rod.
I have had no experience with sinking/sinking tip lines what so ever.

I think a sinking tip foating line would be the best...

Re: Joining Fly Lines

This is only possible (for me) with a decent wind behind me.
The thin end of the rear taper at the rod tip feels right and the rest is shot out with the wind.

I always end up with the line...
