Fly boxes; storage boxes for bigger flies; then two jars. One jar gets flies to recycle beads and hooks. The other jar gets flies to give away.
At least once a year I'll replace flies with better...

My dog chewed open a plastic bag of 20 hooks. Found 16. The vet said none in the dog. Those plus the tiny ones that have shot from my vice into another dimension are still to be found.

My home waters are a long ways. It's the eastern Sierras approx. 4 hrs away. For that reason I plan trips to do my fishing. Favorite areas are Idaho; Wyoming.

Also good for building up underbodies on flies like the Tellico Nymph. Just the opposite of above. Use white or match body color so you don't get bleed through.

Another yes. Tying has made me much more aware of fly types/sizes/colors/action; and how certain flies should be weighted to fish in the water column.
