Re: Abel Model Confusion - Please Help

VB - Thanks for the clarification. I'm guessing The Big Game 3N would do as well. I'm assuming the 3N in the link is the Big Game.

Any thoughts on a fair price for the 3N Big Game and the Super...

"Dunkable" 8wt. Fly Reel?

I've been asking you all advice on 8wt. Reels for Reds/Specks & Bones. I've narrowed it down to the following:

I am attracted to the idea of a used Abel 3N or a used Tibor Everglades but am...

Re: Cool Water Trout Line for 5 wt. Sage XP?

Thanks much! I'm not opposed to dry fly fishing on the XP. It just that most of my fly fishing for trout is done nymphing, hopper/dropper or fishing dry flys with a dropper. One of my favorites is...

Re: Cool Water Trout Line for 5 wt. Sage XP?

I forgot to mention I don't do much dry fly fishing - some drift, hopper/dropper, nymphing & the streamer (using a different rod)

Re: Cool Water Trout Line for 5 wt. Sage XP?

I need to take a couple pics of the 2 lines I'm using and see if you guys can help me...

Cool Water Trout Line for 5 wt. Sage XP?

I am interested in a heavier line for my Sage XP 5wt. I have a feeling that the rod would be happier with a heavier or even a 6wt. line. I was thinking SA GPX or similar.

Fishing on the 5wt. XP...

Re: 8wt. Reel Advice

That's a good point and a selling point for the Hatch over the Galvan.

From what I have read the drag on the Galvan T8 should be plenty sufficient for Reds/Specks & Bones.

For 2-3 max trips...

Re: 8wt. Line Redfish/Specks/Bones?

Sorry it was an "off topic" comment - Yes I was referring to regular river trout with my 5wt XP. I bet one of the similar lines for freshwater (like GPX), maybe even overlining, would help me cast...

Re: 8wt. Line Redfish/Specks/Bones?

For Saltwater? The SA website rates the Tital Taper as a "Mild Climate" Freshwater Line.

Would it do ok in heat and salt?
