I went out also. Seen three eagles, one pileated woodpecker and caught one fish. The weather was nice when I got there and the water was manageable, the weather then turned cold and windy after lunch...

All the rivers by me are in decent shape for opening day but I think my earlier prediction of snow will come true :(. It could be 50* the day before but it never seems to fail to snow or sleet on...

I've never had a problem breaking wire because of the bobbin, I know I wouldn't buy a ceramic tube for that either. Not to say you shouldn't, just my opinion.

Far be it from me to trump Mcphail's tying expertise but what exactly was his reasoning. Is he trying to protect the wire from breaking? Or is he trying stop the damage the wire might do to the tube....

Great video Dan, shows what you can do with minimal supplies and a little ingenuity. I think the peacock bass are one of the most beautiful fish and would love some day to fish for them.

If you are just going to use them for wire forget the expensive ceramic, save that for your threads, use the cheap steel tubes for wire or lead.

I did not realize that 6/0 was not a universal size for threads. Being in the electrical industry I am used to a standardized wire gauge and assumed that the measurements for threads was also...
