I've only fished my 9' 5wt with Rio Gold and it really performs well. If I were using the rod more as a dry fly rod vs a nymph/small streamer rod I would absolutely get the SA Trout Taper.

Another Nod for the Hardy or Allen Kraken, I have both and they are great reels.

I use the Kraken on a Allen ICON 10' 4wt and I use the Hardy DD5000 on a Hardy Zenith 9' 5wt.

Just my $.02 but when reading your post first thoughts that pop to mind are Hardy Zenith (on closeout) Scott Radian at the high end of the budget

I own a Zenith 5wt and have cast the Radian 6wt...

One suggestion as opposed to epoxy since its a PIA to work with I would suggest some form of UV glue like Loon or what Silver Creek...

Well took today off from work since flows peaked and runoff is subsiding. Flows were at 205cfs this morning when I left the house which is my new "high" water mark. Ive tried fishing it at 250cfs...
