Would the GR50 have to fast of an action for small streams for throwing dry flies. Also, would it be a harder rod to cast because I have only been fly fishing for a year now.

No, sadly I don't know any fly tiers but I am going to contact my local shop as they offer classes and see about doing one of those.
So how are the Anvil Apex vises? Seems like people like them but...
