Re: Want to fly fish Pike Canada Suggestions?

One trip that stands out in my mind is a trip to Nipigon for pike, lakers, and brook trout. Otherwise just throw a dart at a map of Ontario and you're likely to find excellent pike fishing wherever...

Re: Angler Category

Part time, type 2 for me. More than anything, the reason for this is my geographical location making it nearly impossible to fly fish year round. I enjoy ice fishing during the winter months, and...

Re: A Quick Wader Queston

Socks inside my waders, yes, but not outside. I wear out other portions of the waders long before the neoprene boots to worry about wearing socks outside of them.

Re: Fly fishing heaven....

Very nicely done! I chuckled when I saw that picture of you fishing that hole on Pebble. A few weeks ago, I caught more fish out of that pool and the next one up than I did in my 3 other days on...

Re: $2485 will almost get you the "essentials" to fly fish

I'm not sure. He mentioned that for beginners he would recommend the $150 outft. The other gear was for committed freshwater anglers. Big difference, IMO.

Re: Nail polish poppers?

As others have said, it's not ideal for locking a popper head onto a hook. Though you can use it as a clear coat if you want to. Go grab yourself a cheap bottle of super glue gel or epoxy to look...

Re: Coming Up From Georgia

Len making a comeback with an anti-TU/anti-WIDNR rant thread. I don't feel like arguing the merits of habitat improvement projects with you, as we've been down that road before. But I will say that...

Re: PSA: Yellowstone Park is not a petting zoo!!!

If my math is correct, this puts the 2015 season count at Bison - 5 Bears - 0.

One of my favorite things about being at the park is getting to watch the sheer stupidity on display.

A...

Re: Racine WI/ Root River tackle advice.

Home water is home water. It's nice to be able to go drive 5 minutes and be on it, even if it is going to sometimes be busy. But if you don't dig the combat fishing, then don't bother with the Root....

Re: Damaged SD card

I should specify that when I say photo dump, I also reformat the card. It's just habit.

After speaking with a few other photographers about this problem, it's a general consensus that the data...

Damaged SD card

Any computer whizzes out there ever heard of an SD card being corrupted out of the blue?

Long story short, I just got back from a short trip to Yellowstone and had taken roughly 300 images with...

Re: My 2015 Season Thread;

I believe he's going to tell you that it's a "Swingin D" tied by Mike Schultz. It's a great fly. I'm not sure on availability now, but those Rainy foam diver heads that he uses were hard to get your...

Re: Yellowstone fishing partner?

It's that .1% of the time that worries me. But it won't make much of a difference to me in the end. But it's a good opportunity for someone to get a bit of an ego-boost after watching me cast a...

Yellowstone fishing partner?

I'll be in Yellowstone from the 9th (tomorrow) through Saturday for a quick stress relieving trip. If any solo anglers are in the area and want to pair up for safety, let me know.

Re: The rude Alaskans

You and Ard are both much, much better people than I am. Kudos to both of you for keeping cool heads. I could see myself saying some not too polite things if put in that same situation.

This pretty much sums up last season in a nut shell for me. If it wasn't so close, I definitely wouldn't go back. Unfortunately two of my favorite things in life are spending days on the Brule river...

Re: Brule river

A real popular fly on the Brule is a Pass Lake fished just about any way you want to. A lot of guys will fish it as a small streamer thrown up against the banks and stripped slowly back. I would...

I'd be REALLY interested to see what you think about it once you guys have used it. At those prices, i could actually afford to have a couple running in the boat.

I've always wanted to have a...

Re: Show us Your Photography

Hadn't ever shot the northern lights before last night. It's tricky!

One thing I learned from from the experience is not to be afraid of high ISO settings. Most of my shots last night were at ISO...
