Re: Airflo Sixth Sense

I literally just had this conversation with an Airflo rep 2 weeks ago regarding the intermediate lines....

The answer is not well, especially compared to their other floating line offerings. It...

Re: Anyone use human hair to make a fly?

You could, but it wouldn't really behave like you would want/expect. Most mammals have 3 distinct types of hair - guard hair, fur and vibrassa (whiskers). Guard hairs are longer and stiffer then the...

Re: Best all around rod

If you can give us an idea of weight and length you are looking for that would help narrow down the recommendations. In your price range you may be better suited looking at used rods. If I was going...

Re: B B King

Re: Looking for a 4wt

Orvis has a YouTube channel and their videos featuring Pete Kutzer are very good. I have several casting dvd's but the best by far is "Casts that Catch Fish" by Carl McNeil, the owner of Swift Fly...

Re: snake river mud

Snake River Mud is used to take the shine off a new leader. When fishing furled leaders (which is always for me now) I use it on tippet only, and really just when dry fly fishing or nymphing gin...

Re: Looking for a 4wt

If a short rod isn't needed I would stick with an 8'6" or 9" rod. The St Croix Imperial is a fantastic rod for the price in either length.

If you want to start reading up on glass The Fiberglass Manifesto is the place to start. Many folks credit Cameron Mortenson for single handily reviving fiberglass fly rods (or at least drawing the...

Re: Thoughts on heavier rod

My vote would be to go 6wt, but a 9'6" or 10 ft model. The extra length will help you keep (more) line off the water when fishing from a float tube or pontoon. It will also make it easier to mend...

Re: 3wt Rod Options

I love 3 wts, and if I was going to add another one to my collection that was under 8 ft I would seriously consider one of the modern fiberglass offerings over graphite. Fiberglass has come along...

Re: Missleading Fly Line Names - Ignor Them

S&S - How does the ED line do with heavier payloads? Most of the nymph/indicator lines out there are 1/2 heavy and I'm looking for a true to weight line for chucking streamers and double nymph rigs...

Re: Ultimate indicator nymphing stick?

Yes! Seriously consider a 10 footer, I wanted a 9'6" but got talked into the 10 and the extra 6 is noticeable when mending and roll casting.

True, with a few exceptions most 10 foot rods are...
