Re: Scud tying questions

Dude! You tore the roof off of the Honeymoon Suite!:D
I never realized scuds were that large. Those look to be close to 3/4" long. I've only ever seen grass shrimp down here, and a big one...

Re: 2nd Fly

+1 on the Gold-ribbed Hare's Ear and the Pheasant tail Nymph.
I learned it from Al Campbell's tutorial (http://flyanglersonline.com/flytying/beginners/part11.php).
There are several other easy to...

Re: bobbin threader

Just don't pull too much thread off before sucking it thru the tube. You'll lasso that little speed-bag thingy at the back of your throat.
I made my own out of the bottom string from an electric...

Re: Good Start?

I have an easy way to anchor the bead, without spending 10 minutes trying to build a thread dam behind it. Spin about an inch of dubbing on your thread, then with your off hand, use your fingernails...

Re: The wives don't understand...

What I usually get is the "Just smile(fake) and nod like you think it's great" look.
I don't practice cast in the yard, but that's her reaction to the flies I show her. This is after she received...

Re: "Fall has finally fell?"

Still close to 90 degrees here. Won't see "cold" weather until late December to maybe early January. Not too unusual to have 85 degrees on Christmas Day.
It'll get down into the upper 20's for 1,...

Re: New to Fly Tying..Need help w/Hornberg fly and warm water flys

As far as other flies for bluegill, pick any trout fly. Bluegill and trout eat about the same things, with the exception that usually aren't as picky. Usually. :)
