eventually the rubber bands will dry out and break but at dollar store prices you cant beat it

silicone bands may last even longer

in nolls book (i'm looking at it now), everything in the instructions to tie the royal coachman can translate into other patterns because it shows you every step and when to tie on a particular...

as rip mentions above

recipes are USUALLY written in the order of assembly and that results in a step by step

however there is always an exception to the rule

some recipes are so jumbled up...

i just google for fly pattern recipes and photos

+ the 40 or so books in my tying library

figure out the patterns you want to tie and google them for the recipe, videos, step by step...
