re: Flies for Project Healing Waters and Casting for Recovery (2014)

Thanks, ctshooter. I appreciate the kind words. I'm fortunate in that the doctors feel confident in a cure and I have the love and support of family and friends. I wish you the best in your battle...

re: Flies for Project Healing Waters and Casting for Recovery (2014)

Larry,
I'd really like to participate in this. I'm not sure how many flies I can come up with given my current struggle (cancer), but, I'm sure I can come up with at least a dozen before March or...

Re: we did drinking and smoking but what are....

Classic rock (Zeppelin, Hendrix, etc), blues (Albert King, Clapton, Cray) and Jam Bands (Widespread Panic) dominate my audio senses while tying and pretty much the rest of the time too. Some country...

Re: New Years Plans

Having a low-key dinner with family. Then, probably off to early snooze time. Need to stay rested. Happy New Years to all and a very bountiful 2014 fishing year!

Re: Zingers or Retractors?

I've had good luck with the Fishpond retractor as well. Lost nippers can darken a beautiful day. All of the other zingers and retractors I've tried have failed.

Re: Fish beautiful locations

Thanks to Taylor Reels for starting this thread and all who have posted pics of the beautiful spots they fish. Going back through all of the pages puts a smile on my face. Keep 'em coming.

Re: The never ending vest hunt question !

I don't have a lot of experience with alternatives, but my Fishpond Gore Range has been great so far. Due to the massive amount of storage, I tend to over stuff it at times, but it's always...

Re: Best camera

I hooked a piece of shock cord to a carabiner and fastened one end to the camera and the other to my vest. No problems taking pics with it and no way of losing the camera without losing myself in the...

Re: Craigslist rant against fly fishing

My post is from experience. I lived in the area for almost 5 years. Not generalizations, but facts. I do appreciate the congratulations though, thanks!

Re: Craigslist rant against fly fishing

Not so surprising given that it's posted in the Eugene Oregon Craigslist. Eugene is the Mecca of crazy. It's full of hippies who claim to be free spirits while protesting to bring about more laws and...

Re: What am I doing wrong?

I've found that this happens to me when I have too much material built up right behind the eye and not enough tension on the thread when whip finishing. When I do end up with too much material, I...

Re: Cabelas Waders

They are expensive, but you get what you pay for. I considered my Simms G3s a splurge, but after getting them, I realized they were a worthy investment in my enjoyment of trout hunting. Simms has a...

Re: Cabelas Waders

Cabela's does have a great return policy, but that will be going away with their push to sell consumer protection plans.

Their return policy still doesn't make up for the lack of quality in some...

Re: Whatever happened to etiquette?

It seems as though the "wonderful people" are the ones you don't meet out fishing because they have enough etiquette and respect to move along and give you space.

That being said, I have met...

Whatever happened to etiquette?

Part of the enjoyment of fishing is the solitude. When I head out to the spots that I frequently fish and someone is already there, I move on and seek out other spots. I do not crowd others and...

Re: Traveller's Trip Report - Coeur D'Alene

When coming to northern Idaho to fish, please be respectful and if someone is already fishing a spot, don't fish there. The rivers have plenty of room for solitude and there is no need to crowd and...

Re: Fly selection for nOOb......

For cheap online flies, try anglersdream.net. They are quick to ship and nice folks with a decent selection of flies. That being said, the above advice of frequenting your local (or local to where...

Re: Central Idaho Free Stone...

Awesome shots, Mike. I don't know if it's my eyes deceiving me or not, but that fish looks like it's smiling almost as much as your son.
