Re: Flies for Project Healing Waters and Casting for Recovery (2015)

Larry,

Some of the ties you received date back to a "long ago" for yours truly, the culminations of lessons learned by two young girls who learned to tie at the elbow of Dear Old Dad. There is...

Re: "The Miracle 100+"

Larry,

I'll pass along your thanks to "The Speaker of the House." Daughter Jesse took the list of names of everyone who purchased a fly or hook box, wrote them on small pieces of paper, and then...

Re: What is your favorite Brand and model fly Rod?

Favorite brand? Orvis... Favorite model? My old Orvis Graphite series in 6-wt...

Then again, I am fond of a custom bamboo rod that takes up a slot in the rod rack as well. But, for reliable,...

Hey jhardin80,

Glad to hear that the fly box arrived safely and in time for the holidays. And, if memory serves, there should have been an addition to your package, something wrapped and hidden...

Re: Choosing the "correct" rod length.

In looking over the rod tubes and reading the cap information, it's pretty clear that my main preference is an 8-foot rod, most often in a 6-weight. I had a 7'11" 4-wt that I loved fishing, as well...

Re: I Met Myself Last Night...

The list is comprised of three pages of an old newspaper reporter's notebook, stapled twice in the upper left hand corner to assure they'd stay together. It's been opened, read and re-folded more...

Re: It's That Time Again, What Was Your Best Fishing Experience of 2014?

Hands down, the days spent on the water with our daughter, Jesse. How many college kids do you know would drive four hours just to out-cast and out-fish Dear Old Dad? Days like those are far too few...

Re: "The Miracle 100+"

Hey Ed,

The box awaits final packaging for its trip north. As I don't dare infringe on the shipping domain of "The Speaker of the House"-- the couch is comfortable enough, but... --I'm assuming...

Re: A question for the fun of it ?

eastfly66,

You do realize that this "hypothetical" new law would elevate many of us from the "rebel" status to renegade "outlaws," as fly-wranglers everywhere would be designing "stash hides" for...

Update as of 12/12/2014, 4:30 PM...

Re: A couple rods popular for sale

Hmmm?? A 7-weight in among the 6-weights... Well, the two "vintage" Orvis rods are of the "Graphites" class, and I don't have a 7-weight... And, I do take the occasional "deep-woods lake trip" with...

re: Christmas Gift Ideas and Help Our Friend Jerry aka Hairwing530

Re: A question for the fun of it ?

eastfly66,

I'll take a stand on behalf of the 6-weights. It would be hard to have to choose which of the aging Orvis Graphites that I'd stick with, but it would come down to the 8-foot...

Re: Two of the same rod ?

Like ia_trouter and his St. Croix Imperial collection, I'm gradually moving into the "nothing but Orvis Graphites" grouping. Most are of the same ilk-- 8-foot in length, and rated for 6-weight lines....
