Re: Brookie Of A Lifetime

That really puts a damper on a day of fishing. At least you gave it an honest try of reviving it. If you fish long enough, you will cause death to at least a few fish. Doesn’t make it any easier...

Re: What do you consider a "caught" fish?

My last trip out, I hooked into a great fish and actually had the fun of fighting the fish for a bit before he slipped the hook. In my opinion, I did not “Catch” that fish. Although I did have fun...

Re: Feeling the Strike, Setting the Hook

Lots of great info has already been giving. I believe many of us depend too much on the indicator. As mentioned, if you wait for an indicator to be dragged beneath the surface, you are waiting to...

Big fish know where to hang out… Take-2

A couple weeks ago I posted about loosing a big fish because he got tangled up in weeds / grass on the river bottom. I contemplated throwing rocks at his location to get the fish to move, but...

Re: Kids - how and when to start??

I have written many times about this topic. As it turns out, I am one of the lucky few that have a kid that loves to fish… even when the fish are not biting. In my humble opinion, the reason stems...

Re: My Boys Tied Their First Flies

Great job on that hopper… Tying with your kids is a blast, hooking fish on a fly that they tied is even better. Good job getting them started young. Lots more fly tying material needed now….. At...

My 6 yr old daughter has a love for both fly tying and ceramics… Here is her idea of a fishy looking mug. A little help from Dad, but she is the artist in the family.

Re: Modern bamboo fly rods.

Buying rod is truly a personal decision. From make of rod, material, price-tag etc. I am lucky enough to own a few rods. Some inexpensive rods, to some very expensive on the verge of the obscene....

Re: Flycraft ? Anyone see this ?

I have not used one yet, but did look into buying one. They seems great if you float rivers / lakes with class 2 or less water. I do not have that luxury where we fish. But for the water they can...

Re: Winter nymphing in the Ozarks

I agree, its nice to get out. Every time I go fishing on cold winters days, even if fishing was slow, I am so glad I went. Blue skies and no wind only add to the enjoyment.

Re: What am I missing?

I agree with many of the past posts. If you are having fun and catching fish a new rod is not going to significantly change that. I often fish with my 8 yr son. When we hit the river I do not...
