Re: Sun Valley, ID Question

You probably can't go wrong with using a guide from either Silvercreek Outfitters or Lost River Outfitters. Both good shops and located on the main drag in Ketchum. Great area and a lot of great...

Re: George Anderson's 5wt. Reel Shootout...

I love my Galvan Torques and Abel Creeks, so the latest offering from YA gave my reel collection much love on one hand and no love on the other. I do love the YA shootouts but I'll be keeping the...

Re: Winston biiix 5 vs 6 weight

The line I use most with the Radian is the SA Textured Trout. I tested the Exceed when I was at the shop. I thought it may feel "clunky" as I believe it's a half-weight heavy. That was not the...

Re: Winston biiix 5 vs 6 weight

I have a number of Winstons, mainly WTs and BIITs, and count myself as a fan of theirs. I owned the 590 BIIIX for 2 seasons, great rod but I found in my hands it ran out of gas for some of my...

Re: Moving to Bend, OR

Larry,

As others have already indicated, that is my understanding and experience as well. I actually waded quite a bit on various parts of the Deschutes. It's one of those rivers which offers...

Re: Where is a good place to fish near Boise?

Angler's Habitat fly shop would be a good one to contact both for nearby Idaho water as well as the Owyhee (just across the border into Oregon)

Re: Graywolf custom rods?

I had Shane build me a perfection grade Steffen 8' 3/4. I can't speak highly enough of the rod or dealing with Shane

Re: The Last Two "Kitchen Sink" boxes & The "OTTCM" Box...

Got home last night from work trip to find Jerry's OTTCM package where my wife puts all my packages (I got to pay the USPS and UPS guys to hide the packages). When I opened it, all I could say was,...

Re: So how'd you guys make out this Christmas?

The bride got me a Patagonia Atom Stealth Sling Pack on closeout from the local shop. I used it yesterday on the Provo, a couple minor gear adjustments/placements needed, but I'm going to love this...

Jerry,

Payment sent via PayPal and PM sent as well. Can't wait to see the OTTCM after all the love your flies get, I know I'll be blown away.

Jastrout,

My pleasure, Jerry's too much of a...

Re: The Last Two "Kitchen Sink" boxes & The "OTTCM" Box...

Jerry,

I'll give Jastrout the first choice but I'll take whichever box is left. Thanks and here's to your health in 2016,

re: Rocky Mountain Snow Pack 2015/2016

We just moved here but the locals are saying we haven't had snow like this in 4-5 years. A pain to shovel/snow-blow but beautiful and great for the area and rivers

Re: One of Those Days

Thanks Larry, and I am very fortunate, it was not an inexpensive rig. And I'm glad you're on the mend after both machine and animals did number on you!

Re: What Did You Buy Today?

Larry,

If I recall correctly, didn't they essentially build the A-10 around that cannon? Awesome plane and tough as woodpecker lips.

I have the TMF and the 480 BIIT, but no experience with the GVX. I have fished both the TMF and BIIT extensively. Both great rods.

My TMF is a dry fly wand on small to...

Re: Reel to balance Winston 4 wt?

I have the Winston BIIT 486 (predecessor to the LS). I have used a Galvan Torque on it (I love those reels) and it was great but I liked a click and pawl on it better (in my case an Abel Creek). As...
