Re: Moving to Syracuse, where are the trout?

We have 2 great TU chapters out here. Madison County TU 680 and Iroquois TU 002. JLMorton pointed out some of the local streams. If you want some specifics, send me a PM and we can chat.

Re: Adirondacks fly fishing suggestions

I would suggest the Ausable River. Even though I'm in CNY I haven't gone, but most of the people I know have and swear by it.

Re: I like click-check reels for trout!

I just picked up a Redington Zero for my 3 WT. I love this reel. It is super light and I don't need a drag for any fish I'm going for with the 3 WT.

Re: Cabela's 3 Forks 3wt/Prestige Plus Combo

I think you'll like it. Since I've had the rod I've gone through 2 reels. I think they ended up being the weak link in the setup. The rod is my go-to rod during the summer. Good Luck!

Re: Knots

I always use the hemostat knot (I think this is the knot you saw). I also think it is an improved clinch, but I could be wrong. For the fish I am seeking (small Browns/Brookies/Rainbows) it has never...

Re: Taking Fish Pictures

There are times when I want to document something. Last night I thought I caught a naturally reproduced fish. It looked too small to be stocked (I don't think they stocked yet). I wanted to confirm...

Taking Fish Pictures

I' not normally one to take pictures of the fish I catch. It's a combination of usually being alone on the stream, having no desire to harm the fish and not really caring whether anyone believes what...

Re: newbie vice suggestions

After listening to what others are saying I wanted to throw in my 2 cents. I give them as someone who teaches our TUs fly tying course each year and has to answer the same questions of the students....

Re: who has auctually broken a fly rod?

I have never "broken" a rod, but I had a rod tip break. I discovered it when i was removing my LL Bean Streamlight from its case. About 5 inches of the tip was missing. I turned the case over and out...

Kings River Access

Anyone familiar with the access to the Kings river east of Fresno? I thinking of the area below the dam. I've never fished there and may go there instead of the Kern at the end of March.

Re: Kern River End of March

Thanks for all the great info. I just hope there isn't a big melt. My reservations are made and don't want to spend the days down in LA.

Re: Kern River End of March

I'm planning fishing in the Kernville area, above Lake Isabella. I should have mentioned that beforehand.

Kern River End of March

I'll be lucky enough to get out to the Kern near Bakersfield at the end of March. What can I expect for conditions at this time of year?

Re: March 2016 Caption Competition - Sponsored by Allen Fly Fishing

Even with the rod embedded in his head, John maintains tension on the fish ensuring a strong hook set.

I just went to Lenscrafters and had them reuse my frames for a new prescription. I don't see why you couldn't do the same. It's worth checking out.

Jungle Cock Capes

I'm seeing Jungle Cock capes sold on ebay. I thought Jungle Cock was illegal or protected. Are there any restrictions on purchasing the capes? Does it matter if the seller is in the US or the UK?

I say go with LLBean. They'll replace your waders for ANY reason. I have their Kennebec Waders and am very happy.
