However, every set of tackle I own will sit atop the point of my index finger with the line strung and a fly on the keeper. They balance right at the top of the cork just below the winding check.

Saw a show this evening about Bull sharks entering fresh water. Kinda freaky...gives a whole new meaning to wading possibly. Reports of them swimming as far as Michigan????:surprise:

If I may suggest, look into a Okuma Cedros Salt reel. Around $155.00. Though I never owned one of these, all the Okuma reels I have serve me very well.

Kinda along with all this, keep in mind, the more a fish runs, the hotter your drag system will become. Thus increasing the drag pressure. Like my friend Dan says, make sure you keep your hand clear...

Welcome to the site! If I were you I would use sink tip merely for the fact I find it easier to control when casting(easier to pull out of the water for the next cast I mean);)
