Re: Fly-rod-in-the-mouth pictures?

I won't even pose with my cane rods in my mouth...I know where they've been. Of course, if ya'll are comfortable posing with a rod in your mouth for a picture, heck, who am I to judge?

Re: First Official Visit To My Local Fly Shop. Advice needed.

Buy the Abel nippers, and they'll tell you all you want to know. And for heaven's sake, if you're wearing your tweeds and carrying your pipe, make sure you're packing your cane rod, a plastic rod...

Re: Waders vs. Shorts

Almost always waders. Sierra streams are pretty cool even through the summer. The dog days of summer may catch me wet wading, but in quick dry long pants, only for a little protection against the...

Re: Wet Fly Rod?

Are you looking to purchase a rod as a specialized wet fly rod? While I fish soft hackles as much as the next guy, the idea of setting aside an outfit exclusively for soft hackles, never occured to...

Re: Sage Fly Rod Cosmetics

I thought when I discovered this forum, that it might be a cut above many others. In most cases, it is in fact not. This thread is testament to that fact. Like so many other internet boards, it comes...

Re: Sage Fly Rod Cosmetics

Wow, Sage had better watch themselves, all this negative talk on this forum may knock them right off their high horse, lol. Personally, I've only had my ESN a short time, and after but one day on the...

Re: Sage Fly Rod Cosmetics

They're decent enough "looking" rods, never handled one, so can't comment on anything else. They do have a cool looking logo, and while not personally "brand loyal" I guess I personally will stick to...

Re: Im stuck between....

I fish with a Scott S4 in a 9' 6 wt, and use it for the very purpose you intend, plus nymphing. It handles all I ask of it admirably. It loads easy, tracks smooth and recovers quickly. A few weeks...

Re: Rod Weight and Price/Performance

I have to agree with pegboy's approach. Spend the most, or what you're comfortable with, on the outfit you'll use the most. Your return on investment will be the greatest. While I have a decent 3 wt...

Re: Best Trout Rods ?

Don't know about the best, maybe the best for my fishing styles, but here are the threesome that see the most action from me.

Re: Buying flies on a budget...

If you decide to start tying, a word of advice, stay away from fly pattern guides and web sites. They'll only serve to fuel your addiction. Your fly tying kit, ecomes your fly tying desk, then your...

Re: Greys Streamflex XF2 10' 5wt.

Like everyone else, I agree the Streamflex is near perfect for high stick nymphing, at least as far as the waters I fish these days. I handled one almost daily in the course of my work, and had fully...

Re: Putting a face to the name

Well, late to the party as usual, but I'm a new member, so I don't feel too bad.

Here's a shot of me nymphing the West Walker River in NV...

Howdy from Reno

Hello Gents and Ladies,
