I have 6 Winston rods one of which is the b3x 9ft 5wt.I use either the litespeed or the guru on them among the other reels I on them.

I use everything from my abel 3n,abel 4,lamson litespeed,lamson guru,marryat,galvan torque t5,ross f1,mfc madison2a,hardy angel 2.All work just fine.Go to youtube and watch the Kelly galloup videos...

I agree,start with a medium to medium fast rod then progress up to a fast action rod.But it all depends on what you are fishing for.

To properly cast a fly rod you need water to properly load the rod for your backcast,casting on the grass or in the parking lot will not work.Go to winstonrods.com and watch the 11 part video's that...

I have never owned a cfo but have looked at them for awhile,classic,beautiful looking reel.As far as abel making them now,they will only get better.:thumbsup:

You should like it,i have a guru2 and a litespeed2,the litespeed hard alox is incredibly light and my favorite.

I have to disagree with you tedwin183,the ross cla is just about what a plain,simple reel looks like,a bunch of round holes,no reel design there.

Yikes your friend is 100% correct,i lived in bayfield for 6 years visiting the san juan about 3 times,featureless,hot,crowded and he's right about the driftboats.

I have not cast the gvx I own 6 Winston high end models, but what I have read about it people seem to like it. I am waiting:thumbup: to hear more about the nexus.

I agree with k9mark cast as many or the ones you are interested in.Now the big problem with testing rods is not in the parking lot,the rods need to be casted on a pond,lake or river to properly load...

I have 2 pair of simms boots with the star cleats on them,I left behind felt soles about 6 years ago and have not looked back.Felt soles are the absolute worse things to wear on snow and muddy...
