Spring/Seasonal Patterns

I apologize as this is a very beginner question... I grew up in the Midwest fishing for bass, walleye, pike, perch etc. and never had any real experience with trout. I made a few trips to Colorado...

Korkers Streamborn Wading Boots

I bought a pair of Korkers Streamborn wading boots for my dad. He wore them once but then decided they were a little too tight/small (can't return them since he used them). He generally wears a size...

Re: Getting fish to the reel/drag

Thank you for the advice. There were some good tips in there that I will definitely have to try. I probably had around 5ft or more of excess line after stripping it back in. It seems that I will just...

Re: Dacron backing...

Well, I am 100% certain it was not gel spun. It was definitely regular Dacron backing. Perhaps sticky was not the correct word to describe it but it does seem to have some sort of tackiness or...

Re: Dacron backing...

Hrm... Thanks for all of the replies weighing in on the subject. I can't remember the exact name of the backing but it was some cheap stuff from Bass Pro Shops. I will probably just use some leftover...

Dacron backing...

I apologize for how stupid this question is but I am very new to fly fishing. I was spooling up a new reel with Dacron backing and it seems to be "sticky" in a way. Also, when I took off the...

Thanks for all the helpful advice. It is really appreciated. You guys made a couple of reel suggestions as well. As far as reels go, what arbor size do you prefer and why?
