Re: The Loomis reel thread.

Yeah, sorry. I've only heard of the Synchrotech reels. They look to be a lot different (in terms of design and philosophy)than their current lineup.

Re: The Loomis reel thread.

Do not infer that any of the positive qualities in Loomis rods have made their way into these reels by virtue of the name printed on the box. If you like the Loomis name that much, go ahead. ...

As far as I am aware, the wider spools are merely the functional solution that allows large arbor reels to carry an "adequate" amount of backing. It offsets the loss of spool volume due to the...

Re: New 4wt rod?

Red Truck Fly Fishing (www.redtruckflyfishing.com) has G. Loomis Whispercreek GLX 9'0" 4wt or a...

I didn't realize "Tibor" lives there.

I've fished out of Chokoloskee enough times to really appreciate the wide selection of Costa Sunglasses and excellent customer service offered by Win-Car...

I saw a Facebook post from Sage saying they were doing some "product development" down in Chokoloskee, FL. I took that to mean they were working on a new saltwater rod.

They just go by "Winston." A lot of folks fish Winston Rods.

The passport has some very favorable reviews out there. It will probably be a significant upgrade from the Clearwater.

Re: Silly newbie question

Like you say, the wax is more of a dirt and grit attractant than anything. I just wipe them down well. If I feel something rough when I am putting it together, I hit the female end with a q-tip or...

I just requested the drag adjustment spring from Nautilus. According to them, it reduces the amount of "play" in the drag knob near freespool and can add a little extra pressure on the top end.

Re: Nautilus FWX compared to Galvan?

I never realized that. I might have to send in my FX 7+. I've always been concerned about taking it out for steelhead. I wonder if they can just beef up the pretension setting so the drag...

Re: Sage One Fly Rod and Reel Question

You can use these longer rods with dry flies. A common theme with them is that the longer rods compromise a little on accuracy, but they make up for it in terms of mending ability for getting good...

I've always heard male trout called "bucks." The only fish that I have called a "bull" is a large Red Drum.

Re: Orvis Green Mountain Tippet

I've fished for 6-7 years now. The only Orvis tippet I know are the Super Strong (SS), Mirage, and the new Abrasion Resistant (AR).

Re: Teton Tioga Magnum Reel

I own a Tioga 10LA paired with my 9wt fly rod. I've owned it for 5-6 years now, and I rarely use it (simply because my 9wt doesn't get used a whole lot).

The LA spools were sort of pointless on...

Re: What is a good cheaper pole

I'm not trying to start an arguement, but 3 rods is the start of a pattern. When you're dealing with a piece of equipment that is 9' long and weighs 3-4 ounces, you have to use extra care in how you...

Re: Waders and boots
