Re: Quick Trip Denver - help please

Time is obviously of the essence for the OP, and driving around the highways of the Front Range on Friday afternoon? Forget the Blue - could take you two or three hours to get there due to...

Re: Snowshoeing and Fly Fishing

I day hike into the lakes of Rocky Mountain NP every May and June to fish the greenbacks after ice out. I take my waders and lots of extra layers in a big backpack used for overnight trips. Early...

re: Spring Fishin' in Wyoming (Update #3)

Absolute money as always, Larry. Don't know where you're digging these fish up, but they are some of the prettiest rainbows I've ever seen.

Re: Wanted: your reports and photos of Slough Creek - Yellowstone

Thanks for such a wonderful post and pictures. As for some recommendations.....bring 'em. But I am not interested in going into the park too far. I want to stay in the NE part closer to Cooke...

Re: more pics of the Winds - going bust for goldens at Elbow

You know, I just looked at those pictures again.....I think you're right. They do look like CRCT's. Those big spots are even consistent with the greenbacks of RMNP, let alone regular CRCT's.

Re: Wanted: your reports and photos of Slough Creek - Yellowstone

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of........but no worries, as I can work all around it. I don't get National Park backcountry permits months in advance (unless it's Arrowhead Lake in my home...

Wanted: your reports and photos of Slough Creek - Yellowstone

There's a decent chance I'll be right outside of Cooke City this upcoming summer and I was considering a side trip up Slough Creek for a few nights. Anyone here have first hand knowledge of the...

Re: more pics of the Winds - going bust for goldens at Elbow

No, you're not hijacking......keep it coming! I could prattle on and on about the Winds for hours (and I usually do!).

For me personally, it just doesn't get any better than goldens, and not...

Re: more pics of the Winds - going bust for goldens at Elbow

I've only had four encounters with bears in the backcountry that were "up close and personal," or within charging range. Only once in the Winds, and I've never seen a Grizzly (thank goodness).

Re: more pics of the Winds - going bust for goldens at Elbow

I'm pretty sure these are Yellowstones, probably descendants of stockings made by Finis Mitchell. There were only a handful of lakes in the range that held native fish before man intervened. Finis...

more pics of the Winds - going bust for goldens at Elbow

In July 2012, I took an eight day trek through the Winds in search of golden trout. The golden lakes were dead but I had nice camping and fishing at several brook trout and cutthroat lakes. I hiked...

Re: Marvine Lakes - Flat Tops, Colorado

No, I don't tie. That's Osthoff's orange scud, but he makes two sizes, and this is the smaller of the two (#12). His Mega Scud is a #8.

We obviously speak the same language, my friend. I've been to the Beartooths. The Lake Plateau is as sublime as it gets.

I have a lead for big brookies close to Fossil Lake that I hope to come...

Re: Marvine Lakes - Flat Tops, Colorado

Marvine Lakes - Flat Tops, Colorado

In early June 2008, as per Osthoff's recommendation I made the easy six mile hike into the Marvine Lakes on the west side of the Flat Tops Wilderness. The main reason I came here was because the...
