Re: Fishing a popper?

I think the best time for poppers is when the water is like glass. I like to cast close to some kind of structure, lilly pads, timber, culvert, etc., then let it sit motionless until about the time...

Re: Visiting Buckeye looking for some suggestions...

It's an easy ride to the beach from there and a great time of year to fish the surf. Or, you'll be near the Delaware River, you could take a short drive upriver and possibly get into some smallies.

Re: Lines for the Delaware River

I was out Monday morning with it and I did have a much easier time with a few feet of head in the guides.

I could definitely feel how shorter and a little heavier would improve things when spey...

Re: Lines for the Delaware River

There are so many different options, my head was...

Lines for the Delaware River

I'm new to switch/spey. I'd been saving for a rod and when the Orvis Helios switch rods went on sale I grabbed a 6wt. I plan on using it primarily on the Delaware river swinging streamers for shad...

Re: Spey weight for largemouth

I use a 5wt. sometimes for LMB, if I'm casting nothing larger than a woolly bugger and I know I won't be casting near submerged vegetation. Otherwise, I use an 8wt. Even then, when I know there's a...

GSMNP in Mid-August

My family and I are going to spend a week in East Tennessee near GSMNP and the surrounding area in mid-August. I know that's not a great time to fish, but that is when we're able to go and I'll make...

Re: 5wt Bass Fishing flies?

No problem, I cast woolly buggers and other streamers in that size to bass with my 5wt. I keep the leader short, 6' or so, and use straight mono or flourocarbon.

Re: colton rods?

I have a couple of Colton reels and think they're great, but haven't touched one of the rods. Ask around some of the striper-oriented boards. I know some guys have experience with them, and the...
