My understanding is a hex is smooth and easy to cast , a penta is a little more powerful and a quad even more powerful again . But I like others would love to hear from a builder on there prospective...

Sorry to have taken so long to reply have had some major problems at work.
These are some of the reasons I love to fish with Bamboo.
The slight weight of bamboo loads the rod with little or no fly...

It is all about the taper of the rod, and how it casts for me, if you want a all round rod to fish the Mantra rods are fantastic and the fact they will replace a broken section was a big draw card in...

Not sure about that particular line but every SA line I have owned ( quite a few) I have been very happy with with no issues in cold weather . Give it a try and let us know how it performs .

A older made in England St George 3 inch or a Bougle of the same size both lovely reels.I think the featherweight or St George junior may be a little small for a 8ft rod but that's just my opinion.

Never on a fly rod ,but as a young boy I would happily trot worms down a run with just a spool of line a hook baited with worms or what ever grub or insect I could find. happy days.
