Re: Pleasant surprise at Basspro.

They tailor the space to the likely clients.

The Bass Pro in Hooksett, NH has a pretty decent fly section. The ones in Florida have very small sections.

Re: Very bottom of my fly rod handle is crooked, anyone else seen this before?

The question of voiding the Sage warranty has come up in this thread. Earlier I posted this about that question:

I sent an e-mail to Sage asking:

"I have a Z-Axis 586-2. I bought it from a...

Re: The Fly Fishing Lanyard - Pros/Cons

Like some others I bought a lanyard thinking that it looked like a good idea.

I never use it. Everything I need goes into vest pockets or pants pockets (well, not my net).

Re: Very bottom of my fly rod handle is crooked, anyone else seen this before?

That end cap should have been epoxied in. I don't see how tapping it back is going to help. At least not more than temporarily.

I'd call Sage. They should replace the rod.

Re: How much do you think I could get for this rod ?

I looked at the big auction site to see how much those rods had actually sold for in the last three months.

It's quite a range - from $203 to $350.

Re: Wading shoes...

Take a look at Simms RipRap shoes.
They're made for wet wading.

Re: Felt sole or Rubber with Studs?

I walk with the studs in/on. But, as I said, I don't go nuts with the studs. 10-12 around the edge works well for me.

Re: Felt sole or Rubber with Studs?

Simms Vibram soles with a few (maybe 10-12) studs around the edges is very secure.

It's much better than felt in my opinion. Felt is just awful walking to the river, and not as good as the...

Re: Classic Sages?

The 0 wt and 1 wt SPLs always sell for pretty high dollars on the auction site.

Re: Formula 1 - 2015

How many left rear wheel nut problems were there?
It makes some sense that the left rear would give trouble if any did. That wheel gets loaded pretty heavily at Melbourne.

Re: Boca Grande - Redfish, Snook, Trout

As it happens, I've tried both a 6 wt. (St. Croix Legend Ultra 10') and an 8 wt. (TFO BVK 9') in the last couple of weeks on the salt in St. Petersburg.

As far as fish are concerned, the 6 wt. is...

Re: If the Sage One 5 wt is so great .... ??

The shootouts are part data and part opinion/preference.

In the Sage lineup, of the the Z-Axis, ZXL, and ONE, I prefer the ZXL, followed by the Z-Axis, then the ONE. That's my opinion/preference....

Re: My First Time

I've been at this for 10 days now.
It's been an interesting ride.

First, I'm used to light rods. My normal rods of choice are in the 00-3 wt. range. I've been using a rod I built last month, a...

Re: Teton Tioga 10 SA & 10LA Interest ?

I have the Tioga 4, 6, and 8, all bought new.

I'd imagine there would be interest in the larger versions. I say go for it.

Re: "My First Time." I'm not going there but think I was 18.

I'll be back in the mountains of NH and Maine.

This saltwater fishing is fun, but my first preference is to be alone in the mountains.

Re: Scientific fraud infests fish & wildlife service top ranks ????

Based on this one case I'd say 'infests' is a little strong.

I'm sure there is plenty of malfeasance and misfeasance in the FWS, just like any other governmental bureaucracy. I don't know where...

Re: Question about maxima leader material

I use Chameleon.

Maybe its something I'm doing, but I haven't had much luck with Ultragreen. The knots aren't as secure as with Chameleon.

Re: WTB 6wt Fast action rod

I have Redington CPX, 6 wt. 9'0". That's a very fast rod.

I'm about 99+% sure it's never been used. It has the Redington tube, sock, and Registration card. (I have the rod with me, but the...
