I'm using Rio Outbound Short on mine and it is just shy of a cannon with deer hairs and big nasty streamers, don't bother over lining as Outbound is already well over 8wt and the short head is a fast...

Orvis Battenkill Bar Stock Reel, weight is just over 3oz for the size I, for the II is 3.5oz. I have a few on my light weights and work just fine.

I bought one of these in a 9wt last summer and it is a fast action stick, tried it with Orvis spey line and felt under gunned, went with Rio 600gr Skeg and it shoots pretty darn good for it's price...

Second the smallies idea, lots of still water where your at with good big mouth bass as well, if trout are a must look toward Wixom for stocker fest in the spring, also look for trout in Spring Mill...
