Re: Gold/GPX Any Difference ?

They are quite different, the GPX Has a very abrupt rear taper. I personally can't stand the stuff for anything but streamer or salmon fly fishing. I was using it on a Zaxis 4wt and it was ok for a...

Re: The (Un)Official Sage Mod Thread

I know for me personally the ZXL is hands down my favorite between the ZXL and Zaxis. I just haven't found the spot I fish that the Zaxis is the antidote for what I need in a rod. I find myself...

Re: The (Un)Official Sage Mod Thread

Thanks El Jefe

That was a good write up and I an glad to see Sage at least has options that aren't just pure wicked fast rods. I like my ONE's and Zaxis for the right spots but in the other right...

Re: TXL-F Replacement?

I guess for me just reading this little one's description I'm not interested. My 390-4 ONE is pretty damn fast and it's great in certain situations and sucks in others. Gotta be honest a 7'-10"...

Re: Redington CT 7'6" 3WT

Now dont get me wrong a good line improves "things" but in a medium action 3wt like you have distance isn't a thing you will have a wide spectrum on. Where a 6wt like a Sage ONE guys can cast from...

Re: 3wt 9ft rod options for Nymphing

Re: 3wt 9ft rod options for Nymphing

I use a Sage ONE 390-4 as a nymphing rod quite a bit. Now that doesn't mean it's the best it has pro's and cons. I use this rod for small doubles and a bobber type of stuff and by small doubles I...

Re: is Simms insane?

Re: Zenith 9' #5 Line Choice

I've only fished my 9' 5wt with Rio Gold and it really performs well. If I were using the rod more as a dry fly rod vs a nymph/small streamer rod I would absolutely get the SA Trout Taper.

Re: Best fly reel $100-200

Another Nod for the Hardy or Allen Kraken, I have both and they are great reels.

I use the Kraken on a Allen ICON 10' 4wt and I use the Hardy DD5000 on a Hardy Zenith 9' 5wt.

Re: 4 Weight Zenith closeout

Shut up guys please...leave my AMEX alone

My 9' 5wt is a dream so between the Zenith closeout and TXL-f closeouts I am trying to be good.
