Re: Top water surprise

Congrats. I caught a bunch with my little girls on friday. I didn't get them on a fly, but I did get a bunch on an ultralight rod. They are an awful lot of fun on light lines and light rods.

Re: Southwest MT float fishing questions

The Henry's Fork is a really easy river to float on most stretches. It's where I learned to row, and the fishing is also second to none. The South Fork is also a good river, but in places can be...

Re: Sage Z axis rods

Sorry man you've been spoiled now. Once you've cast a Sage, you don't want anything else. Do what I did and find a used one at a great price.

Re: Furled Leader Questions

Furled leaders work almost like an extension of your taper from your flyline. They typically perform better under nearly any conditions. They can also be made in various sizes. Ultra-fine thread...

Re: Your Worst Day / Calamities While Fishing

Mine was a couple of years ago on the Henry's Fork. A friend and I wanted to fish my favorite spot on the river. It's the plunge pool under a dam that can only be waded out to from the north side...

Re: cortland rimfly

That was my first fly reel that I bought when I was sixteen. It's not a bad reel. Ard is right, it does not have a drag system, you use your palm to apply pressure to the rim of the reel to slow a...

What's the strangest thing you've seen while out fishing?

I bet there are some great stories out there about strange things that you've run into while out on the water.

When I was a teenager we used to hike into this little mountain lake in N....

Re: Your biggest fish on a fly?

My biggest on a fly was a 22-23" rainbow on the Henry's Fork a couple years ago. I don't know where the picture went, but if I find it I'll post it. It wasn't my longest fish, but it was a chunk,...

Re: Looking for a GSMNP Backpacking partner

I'm headed down to NW SC in three weeks, after that I'd love to do a little backpacking in there. I'll be there for the next 3.5 years. If you'd like a backpacking partner later, I might be...

Re: Anyone carry a GPS with them?

I have the Oregon 400T which is really the same unit as the current model which is the 450T. I also manage the giftbar department at Sportsman's Warehouse, so I sell all of these units. I think you...

Re: Whats your go to fly?

Unfortunately I don't have any pics right now, but it is the simplest tie in the world. Behind the bead you put a thorax of synthetic peacock ice dubbing, then a body of synthetic pheasant dubbing...

Re: Midges, midges, and midges

Typically when you see fishes noses poke out of the river, but you can't see the bug on the surface, it's probably a midge. They are more prolific than anything else on most rivers, and if your not...

Re: Whats your go to fly?

This is easy. For one fly, it's going to be a ******* PT tied with a silver tungsten bead tied on a 2X short heavy size 14. Has a #14 gap on a #16 length (If memory serves I think its a Tiemco...

Re: Pigeon River info?

I'll be in Spartanburg, if you know that area at all. Also, if you ever need a fishing partner, I'll be happy to have someone show me around the area a little.

Re: 18"+ Wild Rainbows & Browns If You Could Fish Any River In the Continental U.S.

No question it's the Henry's Fork. I've had days on that river that I didn't catch a fish under 16 inches, and fish over 18 are plentiful. Some stretches are better than others, but on a 20 fish...

I'm moving to SC for the next 3.5 years for chiropractic school and am looking forward to a little trout fishing again (I've been in KY for the last two after moving from heaven, i.e. Idaho). I've...
