Re: First Weekend in April Steelhead-Where will the ice be out?

The Chagrin is somewhat fishable as we speak - I'm heading down there in about 30 minutes as I live less than 3 miles away from it.

The grand is blown out and still has ice jams. Best guess is...

Re: 8WT Rod Suggestion

I use an 8wt Scott A3 9'6" single hand for steelhead in NE Ohio. Our rivers here aren't really wide enough to support a full spey rod. But I do have an 11'6" switch rod that I have a blast with. I...

Took my buddy out for a day of winter steelheading on the Chagrin in NE Ohio during Christmas week.

First time he's ever caught a steelhead, much less on a fly rod!...

So I am correct in assuming that I need some sort of "switch line", then I get skagit tips to connect to the switch line, then you connect sink tips to the skagit head?

Seems like a lot of...

First switch rod - line assistance

So I just ordered a Cabelas LSi 11'6" 8wt switch/spey rod since they were on sale (40% off for $140). I'm going to order a Lamson Guru 3.5 reel (unless I can get an Abel Spey for a good deal).

My...

Re: Top 5 Steelhead flies?
