Re: Applying finish on factory label?

You can put cp on the edges to help seal them. Don't usually do that myself but have done it.

Re: Alpine Lakes - Summer

I rarely nymph in alpine lakes. My favorite is fishing. Beetle or humpy/wulff or other bushy dry pattern. Love surface take though tend to be smaller fish :)

Re: The Slow Demise of "Honor..."

+1 I am sorry you have been on the receiving end of dishonorable behavior, you certainly don't deserve it. Thankfully there are many very honorable people in the world today, many on this forum. I...

Re: New to tying and flyfishing

Welcome Lucas. I'll add well done on the photos. Many people have great difficulty taking photographs of their ties! Keep tying and go ahead and fish those!

Re: Rod Wrapper

I use an electric turner but it is a motor I got for less than $30 on ebay, just built simple wooden stands for it.

Re: Tying with the Divine Proportion in Mind

Interesting concept, thanks for posting it. The idea of proportion is all over fly tying books, videos, and comments on this forum.

I'm not sure I understand the criticism. I'm sure there are...

Re: I got new tying stuff!!!!!!!

Grab a coffee grinder too. We had two and I swiped one for the tying station. Ordered a slew of colored hare's masks plus different squirrel, muskrat, possom, etc etc etc. Cut them off the skin...

Re: Old Spinning rod into a Fly Rod

I've gone the other way: taking a fly blank and building a spinning rod on it. Read that you take the rod weight and put it over 16 to get the lure weight. Eg a 5 wt would be 5/16 oz, just a ball...

Re: Up or Down is One Better Than The Other

Like fishing this way myself. Is one better than the other for all waters or condition, no.

Re: Water flow?

The water on the bottom should be slower due to friction of the water and the rocks, logs, plants.

I'll add that this slowing is what allows the trout to live in fast water. They can find pockets...

Re: Bootfoot waders...

I get better ankle support from stocking foot waders. Also like using the boots with neoprene socks when wet wading. Additionally am glad that when the waders or boots wear out or leak I don't have...

Re: a frenchi seeking for advices to fish colorado

Welcome to the forum! I have an informal rule, I won't spend more time driving than I do fishing. Even with that rule, there is a lot of water here in Colorado.

Within 2 hours of Denver you can...

Re: Ceramic one foot guides

I agree Bigjim, never found a rod 'too heavy' for a good day of fishing. Twice I've had a rod that was so tip heavy it was annoying to fish (one was 12' long and the other a 9' bamboo rod) but the...

Re: Beginer Rod Builder

To pick up on what Petee wrote (he knows what he is talking about), definitely give Snake Brand Original guides a try. They will sit flat on the blank, look good, and are shaped so your thread will...

Re: How long should commercial flies last?

As others have said, a drop of head cement on the wraps behind the eye can extend the life of a fly. A well finished fly should unravel, but it can happen, especially when you're catching fish. The...

Re: Ceramic one foot guides

I've not built the same blank with different guides to test them. Did you weigh the rods after building them? If the difference is noticeable, I'd be interested to know the difference in weight...
